According to which data can I search for data and how?
The search bar above the lister can be used for searching/filtering connections quickly and effectively.
The program filters the list according to the words typed into the Search field. It is very important to note that searching is performed according to every data and not just according to those which can be currently seen in the list. Searching can be performed according to the correspondence at the beginning of the searched word or word occurrence. The difference between them is showed in the following example:
Put the case that there are two connections in the list. At both of them the First name and the City data is given:
- First Name: Angelica, City: New York
- First Name: Alan, City: Los Angeles
Searching by correspondence at the beginning of the searched word if we type „An’ into the search bar, only the first connection can be seen in the list, since the First name there (Angelica) begins with An. However if searching is performed by word occurrence, both of the connections are get back in the result list since at the first connection the „An” letter pair can be found in the word Angelica, as well as in the second connection, two times (Alan, Los Angeles). To sum up:
- at searching by correspondence at the beginning of the searched word a connection is on the result list if at least one of every field of it begins with the searched word
- at searching by word occurrence a connection is on the result list if the searched word occurs at least in one of every field of it.
How can I switch between searching by correspondence at the beginning of the searched word and searching by word occurrence?
Switching between the two searching method can be performed at the end of the search bar, which is marked by a green arrow. If it is ticked off, searching is performed by correspondence at the beginning of the searched word, if it is not ticked off, searching is performed by word occurrence.
Other filtering options by groups
Searching mentioned above always filters all connections in the list. There is an opportunity to search only among connections belonging to a given group. Connections, belonging to a given group can be selected in the right side group lister of the search bar and further filtering can be performed by the free word search bar in a method mentioned above.
There is an opportunity to list only one group or to list a group and its subgroups. Its setting is shown by the yellow arrow of the image above. For example if we have the following groups:
and the „Show subgroups contacts” option is switched, then by selecting the Private group, connections belonging to it and belonging to its subgroups can also be seen. By switching off this option, only connections of the Private group can be seen.
